As part of our selection process, you are required to undertake two ability tests; numerical reasoning test and an in-tray exercise. If you have not experienced taking these types of tests visit cut-e.com for more information. If you would like to complete some practice tests visit matq.com using the password “Embark”.
Please find below a detailed breakdown of the recruitment and selection process:
Stage 1: Online application form and ability tests
Enter your details via our online application form, complete our business questions and attach your CV. Read our business questions in Useful Tips.
You will be invited to complete our on-line ability tests; numerical reasoning test and in-tray exercise.
Numerical reasoning test – the numerical test measures the ability to draw logical conclusions from complex numerical information that is presented in table and charts. Additionally, this test measures the ability to retrieve relevant information when confronted with different types of questions.
In-tray exercise – the in-tray exercise measures your ability to handle information in complex situations. You will work through information presented to you in email format where you will be required to prioritise information, make decisions and initiate various communications and courses of action.
If you meet our benchmarks your application will be screened by bankers from the location / market for which you have applied.
Please note: If you do not submit a full application, the business questions and complete both of the ability tests by the deadline date, your application will not be considered and you will receive an email informing you that you have missed the deadline to apply.

If successful after stage 1, you will be invited to attend a telephone interview where you will be asked questions about your career history, your motivation to join Barclays and the skills you have developed during your previous career(s) which can be transferred to the role of a Private Banker.
Stage 3: Face-to-face interview
If you are successful at the telephone interview stage, you will be invited to attend a face-to-face interview with a Senior Banker and an HR representative where we will discuss your career history, motivation and transferrable skills in more detail.
