Four new appointments within Barclays Wealth Alternative Investment origination and distribution team

Barclays Wealth, a leading global wealth manager, has today announced the expansion of its Alternative Investment Origination and Distribution teams with four new senior appointments in order to provide a market leading proposition for its clients.

Appointments within the Alternative Origination team include Boudewijn Jansen who joins as Head of Private Equity Origination and Sarah Newman as Head of Hedge Fund Origination both will report to Thomas Fekete, EMEA Head of Investment Products at Barclays Wealth.

Boudewijn Jansen joins from HSBC Alternative Investments Limited (HAIL) where he was Global Head of Private Equity, part of HSBC Private Bank. Since joining HSBC in 2002, Boudewijn was responsible for developing the fund of hedge fund and the private equity product offering for HSBC Private Bank.

Sarah Newman has 14 years of experience within the Equity Derivatives and Fund Linked Products/Derivatives businesses at J.P. Morgan Chase, BNP Paribas and most recently at Credit Suisse.  She established the Equity Derivative trading and marketing functions in the New York and Sydney offices of J.P. Morgan and also built the hedge fund client base for J.P. Morgan and Credit Suisse during her years with both investment banks.

Craig Lewis, EMEA Head of Relationship Management and Distribution, Barclays Wealth, has announced two new hires who will build out the EMEA Alternative Investments Distribution capabilities.

Jamie Murray, joins as Director to lead the Barclays Wealth EMEA AI Distribution team.  Jamie was most recently with Broadgate Mainland as Associate Director responsible for Hedge Fund Public Relations.  Prior to this Jamie worked as an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners where he was responsible for fund of hedge fund and discretionary portfolio sales, client servicing globally ex North America with a strong focus on portfolio advisory.  Jamie also worked at HSBC as Head of Business Development and Distribution within the fund of Hedge Fund Business for 11 years.

Emily Smart (nee Stevenson), joins the AI Distribution team as a Hedge Fund Specialist and will report to Jamie.  Prior to Barclays, Emily was a Director at UBS AG Wealth Management where she worked since 2004 with responsibility for identifying and evaluating hedge funds for inclusion in the key client advisory platform.
